Central College follows the FAFSA’s definition of dependency, except in the most extraordinary circumstances. If you are an undergraduate student who was born after January 1, 1982, are not married, do not have legal dependants whom you support and you are not an orphan, ward of the court or Veteran of the Army, Air Force, Marines or Navy, you will be considered dependant for financial aid purposes. You may download a Dependency Override Form to document your extraordinary circumstances if you believe that you are independent but do not fit the criteria listed on the FAFSA. Central College may override your dependent status only when you can document that you are truly independent. Not being claimed on your parents’ tax return or unwillingness by your parents to help with college expenses does not qualify. Click here to download a Dependency Override Form.
