Nortel has previously stated that H.323 is not scaleable enough for carrier VoIP networks. Why are you now supporting H.323 on the CS 2000 softswitch?
H.323 is the most widely deployed VoIP protocol in enterprise networks today and Nortel continues to strongly support H.323 in its enterprise product line. Nortel does, however, continue to support the view that there are some significant issues with H.323 that do not make it a good choice for carrier scale VoIP network infrastructures. Support of H.323 on the 2000 is analogous to support of PRI. Although the protocol is not used as an internal protocol within the carrier’s VoIP network, it is an important protocol to interface to enterprise equipment.
