The UGC in its circular has stated that off campus centres outside the territorial jurisdiction of state of the University is illegal. Sikkim Manipal University DOES NOT have any off-campus centres outside the State of Sikkim, in line with the UGC norms. b) Page 4 of the UGC public notice (http://www.ugc.ac.in/notices/publicnotice.pdf) clearly states that “For running programmes in distance mode, the approval of Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC is required. Sikkim Manipal University – Directorate of Distance Education (SMU – DDE) has obtained an extension of its prior approval from the Distance Education Council (DEC) and is awaiting the final report from the Joint Committee of the DEC-UGC- AICTE post the Committee’s visit to our campuses in Gangtok and Manipal.
