Offer Incentives to Help You Find a Roommate
If you are having trouble finding a roommate, offering incentives to get someone to move in with you may not be a bad idea. It doesn’t matter whether your apartment is small, rent is too high, it’s located in a not so perfect neighborhood or if it’s just plain ugly. You can and will find a roommate by using one or two of these ideas to make your apartment more “attractive”. Offer Lower Rent Yes I understand that whole point of getting a roommate is to help you pay for the rent. However, if people are coming to come look at your apartment, but nobody seems interested in moving in (assuming you accepted people), why not lower their portion of the rent by $25, $50 or even $100? The fact is, getting a roommate to split the rent in half with you won’t be a problem if your apartment complex has cool amenities like a spa pool, jacuzzi, washer and drier in your unit, a fireplace, vault ceilings, a tennis court and other resort like extras.
