Once the forms are complete, how is the database designed?

DataFax study setup is directly based on the original CRF design. A PDF or Postscript version of the form set is loaded into the DataFax database setup tool to form the background for the data entry screens, the template for ICR processing, and the foundation for the database design and structure. Fields on the CRF become fields in the DataFax database. In the database setup tool, fields are defined by selecting them directly on the CRF image. Variables attributes such as variable name, SAS variable name, legal ranges, variable description, skip patterns, and coding are defined for each new variable. Variable attributes are based on general study database conventions defined by statisticians, programmers, and other members of the study team prior to start of study definition.Study meta data are setup in the DataFax study configuration tool. These other databases include the study schedule of events, conditional forms and visits, forms tracking database, and clinical site information.
