PDF Files – can I attach them to EndNote references?

You can use the ‘Link to PDF’ option to create a link from EndNote to a file saved elsewhere on your computer. However, this will not automatically change if you move the file to another folder. Meanwhile, you can insert one document into the EndNote reference itself – this could be an image, or it could be a PDF of an article: Double click on the reference in EndNote to see the full details. Place your cursor in the Image field. Click on References from the top menu, then Insert Object. Click Choose File to find the PDF in your computer. Select the file and click on Open – the file will be inserted as an attachment into the Image field. N.B. Files and images inserted in this way will be automatically saved in a [library name].DATA folder – this can be found within the same folder as the library file itself. If you need to move your library to another computer, you will need to move the .DATA folder too.
