Should Canada have fought in the battle of hong kong?

By the time the Battle of Hong Kong took place much of the world was at war except for the US and some other countries. Canadians were there because many British troops were involved in Europe and Africa. They were going to have more troops go to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and other locations in Asia that were under British commonwealth but they were diverted or canceled with the belief that while the Japanese would attack it wouldn’t be hard to defend. Plus they also were told more would come from China through Chiang Kai Shek’s military. Canadian Government said that they would send almost 2,000 troops to that location. They did send a lot of ships along with supplies and equipment to Hong Kong but there was a stop in the Philippines along the way so much of hte equipment never made it. One other thing was that the more experienced troops from Canada were in Europe so many of these troops were new to the military and did not have the experience necessary. If they were not new the
