Should research and technology focusing on conventional engine architectures continue?
Much of the research will be common (e.g. core and combustor). Concerning fan and gearbox technology, easyJet believes the immediate focus in the next 2-3 years should concentrate on unducted fan technology, with research into improving conventional jet engine architectures being retained as a ‘plan B’ option.
