Should Saddam Hussein be executed?
I’ll assume there was a typo and you meant “Should Saddam Hussein have been executed?” as in, was it right? As far as that is concerned, he was tried in a court of his fellow Iraqis according to the laws of his country. They determined he was guilty (which should not have been a surprise to anyone), and sentenced him to death (again should not have been a surprise…). As far as justice is concerned, he did receive his due process and justice was served when he was executed. Personally, I would’ve liked to see him executed in a less humane way more befitting of his crimes. I think merely taking his life is a light punishment for his war crimes against his own people by gassing the Kurds and mass murder on the Shia. Anyone who thinks he died because we wanted him to must have forgotten all the coverage of the Iraqis tearing down his statues and dancing in the streets to celebrate his fall from power… not to mention the decades of suffering his people endured…
