Should the government use censorship during a time of war.?

unfortunately Geraldo ruined it for everyone with his sand map, but the government has censored the media since the mexican war and so there’s really anything we can do, i say sometimes, to keep moral up, and to keep the public safe (i dont want people hurt only because they look like the enemy)

There are several things which are known as Essential Elements of Friendly Information. Things like how effective an enemy attack was on our forces, where our forces are moving to establish contact with the enemy, etc. You can also include ship and troop movements in that list. Those should not be made public. The easiest way to convince you would be an instance where one of those elements was revealed to the public and one of your loved ones died as a result of that action. Then, after the funeral, you would be writing a scathing letter to the editor of your local newspapers demanding to know why we aren’t using censorship during this time of war, instead of feeding the voyeur gene of all the folks gathered at the local Starbucks!
