Should WEA ask growers to provide feedback on any difficulties they encounter with exporters? What if they default on my contract – does WEA need to know?
It is not WEA’s role to become involved in commercial matters such as disputes between growers and buyers. However, if a grower has evidence that an accredited exporter is acting improperly, they should provide WEA with details. If growers are concerned about this issue, they should consider the use of standard NACMA contracts which contain a dispute resolution clause and also ensure growers retain ownership until payment is made.
