Should women be allowed to play football?
Women need to stay off the competitive pitch until they step up the level of play. First up, letting the ball deflect off your head is not a header. Abby Wambach is great at deflecting the ball. Second, far too many goals are scored in women’s football because of player error not player skill. When the U.S. scored goal #3 against France it happened because the goalkeeper let the ball get behind her. To flight goalkeepers do not do that. They don’t let the ball get behind them. Third, the game needs more speed. One way a women’s football team will never hurt you is with speed. Four, women’s football does not have a counter attack. No matter how deep you press and no matter how many players you press with, you’ll never get beat in a counterattack because there is no speed. The counter attack is an essential in football. Well executed counter attacks are a thing of beauty.
