In addition, the extra verse was performed live by Simon & Garfunkel during their 1969 and 1970 tours (the earliest known recorded performance of the verse is from the Miami University show on 11 November 1969). Simon sang the verse during his early solo tours of the 1970s. An example of Simon’s solo version can be found on the excellent Live Rhymin’ CD. The Bach trumpet and pedal steel guitar solo was suggested and written by Art Garfunkel and Roy Halee during the recording session for the Bridge Over Troubled Water album.
