In Silent Mode, the camera emits no audible cues. It will not beep when capturing an image or when making menu selections. This can be a valuable aid when taking pictures of animals or sleeping infants or when shooting ceremonies and performances. To activate Silent Mode, first place the camera into any shooting mode other than [GUIDE], and then press the [MENU] button. Press the Right arrow and then the Down arrow on the arrow pad to select SILENT MODE. Press the [OK] button to access the Silent Mode menu. Use the Up or Down arrow to choose ON, and then press [OK] to activate Silent Mode. To disable Silent Mode, repeat the procedure but choose OFF instead of ON.
