The marriage of Franklin Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt?
To my understanding was an unusual one. I believe that Franklin and Eleanor were 2nd or 3rd cousins. It was a marriage of convenience – while supportive of one another they spent a lot of time apart dealing with their own missions. But Franklin also had an outside affair with Eleanor’s social secretary, Lucy Mercer. which began soon after she was hired in early 1914. In September 1918, Eleanor found letters revealing the affair in Roosevelt’s luggage, when he returned from World War I.
