It is possible to remove the EndNote codes from a document so that your references are saved as plain text which can be edited by a publisher or colleague. The references will no longer be linked to EndNote so would not be updated if you change a reference in your database. To remove the codes: Open your Word document. Click the EndNote tab in Word and select Convert Citations and Bibliography then Convert to Plain text. You will be prompted to save your document first as you may wish to keep a copy with the EndNote links intact. Stripping out codes may also change some Word formatting. If you only want to strip codes from your bibliography, highlight it then simultaneously press the Ctrl, Shift and F9 keys. It is a good idea to make a copy of your document before trying this.
