The work is focused on three areas: education, fundraising and provision of care. From 2004 onwards, The Salvation Army has actively sought to raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking. We ran a ‘Move it, Speak it, Pray it, Stop it’ campaign in 2005-6, with more recent ‘Raise Awareness’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’ campaigns. We have mounted anti-trafficking information stands at a number of public events, and human trafficking education has been promoted at national youth events. Also, a Salvation Army team volunteered to distribute flyers and information during the World Cup in Germany. ‘Salvation Army projects in the Philippines, China, Malawi, Sri Lanka and India have led to reduced vulnerability to trafficking’ The international Salvation Army has designated the last Sunday in September as ‘International Day of Prayer for Victims of Trafficking’, and support material for this is sent to all Salvation Army corps [churches] and social centres in the UK and Ireland.
