The SP-510 UZ has a Digital Image Stabilization function. What is it, and how does it work?
Digital Image Stabilization technology is designed to reduce the blurring effect that occurs when either the camera or the subject is in motion during image capture. Images taken in low light are particularly susceptible to blurring because the shutter is held open longer in order to expose the CCD to enough light to capture the picture. When Digital Image Stabilization is set to ON, the light sensitivity of the CCD is boosted so that the shutter speed can stay fast enough to freeze motion. The adjustment is made automatically when the level of ambient light would be insufficient to maintain a shutter speed of 1/125 at ISO 64. Digital Image Stabilization is available in the Full Auto, Program Auto, Scene and Movie shooting modes.
