There are a number of civic-related terms, including civic life, civic engagement, civic participation and civic health. What do they mean?
• The above terms can be used interchangeably. In essence, civic life is the common thread of participation in and building of one’s community. The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) and the National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC) have defined civic life for the purposes of this website and related documents based on five elements of civic participation. The definition of civic life includes political action, service, participating in a group, social connectedness, and connecting to news and information.
