There has been a spate of burglaries in our area and my family and I now feel very vulnerable when the street lights switch off at midnight. Can our lights be left on throughout the hours of darkness?

Currently we only light main roads and town centres ‘all night ‘. Lights situated on residential roads in the county are switched to light only to midnight and then from 5.30am until dusk. We do understand that the provision of street lighting can significantly reduce the fear on crime and in some instances can prevent actual crime. We now receive many requests for small scale conversions to ‘ all night ‘ lighting and a sum of £30,000 has been allocated for lighting issues that impact on crime and disorder.
