version 1.x] IMPORTING 2D GRAPHIC IMAGE FILES (i.e., gif, jpg, etc.) – Can I do it?
File formats like “gif” and “jpg” (also known as “jpeg”) are file formats that are used to hold information about 2D images rather then 3D models and they cannot be imported, per se, to create components. You can, however, make use of such 2D formats for “texturing” 3D models. When you texture a mode, it wraps a 2D image around a 3D model. Currently, the tool lets you wrap 2D images in jpeg format around certain components, including box_imageTexture, cone_imageTexture, cylinder_imageTexture, and sphere_imageTexture. In the future, we will be adding much more support for texturing objects created from components and for controlling the appearance of textures on objects. We also plan to add support for other 2D file formats for use as textures, including gif. To see how you can use a jpeg texture with an object, launch the tool and do the following: 1) Select “New Object …” from the “Object” menu. The object generator dialog will appear. 2) Scroll down in the “Installed Components” li
