The man who has it all supposedly risking it all on a waitress, a porn star, a nightclub hostess and oh so many more women in the service industry. So why did he do it? “Well, he did it because he could,” say those wise old sages who’ve seen a thing or two. When delivered by women, this reason is in the “all men are the same” category, and by men it’s a “thank God for that” tone. It’s trite though, isn’t it, and barely acknowledges the billion-dollar career and sanitised image that Tiger himself helped to cultivate. This iconic status was no contrived effort from us. The world didn’t need another hero. Tiger was a creation, Nike and a few other global brands got together and with his blessing gave us one. How else do you net $60 million of endorsements in your first year as a pro? Yes, he has talent, but the other stuff was as manufactured as Girls Aloud and then, when it all worked, wh
