No, of course not. The government flat out lied to the American people during Vietnam, falsifying the reasons for entering and using war for economic gain under the guise of “protecting democracy” We sent thousands of young man in to a needless war (many of those men were uneducated and poor compared with their counterparts who remained at home) and they fought an enemy that was an insurgency rather than a professional army.
