Were the Leafs trades today good trades?
The Leafs won both of these deals by a landslide. Hagman was a good two-way forward but they got Freddie Sjostrom in return also. Both deals that they made were with two teams who needed to slash some salary in certain areas. I would rather have had the Flames part with Cory Sarich than Phaneuf because Phaneuf has a higher ceiling than Bouwmeester, but I guess the Flames just wanted more stability on the blueline than star power when choosing JBo over Phaneuf. The Flames finally have some life in their forwards other than Iginla, Langkow, and Bourque, but I think this will definitely be in favour of the Leafs in the long-run because they finally have a player to build around. Stajan can replace Jokinen, because Jokes just didnt have any chemistry since he arrived there. The second trade was a pretty fair deal, also, the Ducks wanted more money in the offseason and they got it. We`ve all see what Giguere can do, in both the regular season and in the playoffs.
