The “runtime application” lets users access a stand-alone solution without licensing a copy of FileMaker Pro application. Many additional benefits come with using the FileMaker Pro application in addition to runtime solutions: • Database design features are not accessible in the runtime application. ¡ The runtime application is designed for standalone use only. You cannot use the runtime application to be a guest of another hosted FileMaker Pro database. • The runtime application does not work with FileMaker Companions. Specifically: •You cannot host FileMaker solutions over the web with the FileMaker Web Companion. •You cannot share FileMaker Pro data with the new ODBC driver via the Local Data Access Companion or the Remote Data Access Companion. •You cannot share FileMaker Pro data with the new JDBC driver of the FileMaker Java classes.
