What age do children start signing back?

We are not a Deaf family, nor do we have any Deaf members of our family, but I started learning ASL when one of my child care kids was Deaf.  When my next baby was born, my husband and I started signing basics:  mommy, daddy, hungry, eat, ball, tired, etc.  My daughter signed mommy and eat when she was 9 months old.  The rest took a lot longer for us, but I imagine that babies learn faster and easier if ASL is the main language used or, at least, if someone puts in more effort than we did.

Yes deaf babies learn faster. Give them time to answer back.  Don’t give up.  Keep it going to teach babies use sign language.
