What are dust mites and what kind of symptoms can they cause?
Dust mites are the most common trigger for allergic reactions in the home. They have sticky pads on the end of their eight legs, which is why only dead mite particles can be vacuumed effectively. Due to their very small size (250-300 microns in length) and translucent bodies, they are invisible to the unaided eye. Depending on the age of a mattress, it can contain 100,000 to 10 million dust mites. The symptoms they cause are respiratory in nature, and are a factor in up to 80% of asthmatics, as well as in countless cases of eczema, hay fever and other allergic reactions. The best method to control dust mites is our multi-step process, outlined on our residential page.
