What are Replies?
@replies are twitters directed at a specific user in response to one of their updates. When someone replies to your Twitter update by using @username, we collect their reply and catalog it the replies tab on your logged-in home page. You can reply publicly to any update on Twitter by using the @username format.
An @reply is a public message sent from one person to another, distinguished from normal updates by the @username prefix. If a message begins with @username, we collect it as a reply. Following is not necessary to reply to someone, and all of your replies are visible in the @username tab in your home page sidebar. (Tweets with @username elsewhere in the tweet are also collected in your sidebar tab; tweets starting with @username are replies, and tweets with @username elsewhere are considered mentions.

In SoIndustry, you can reply to other peoples status updates by clicking the ‘Reply’ button that shows when you hover over a status update. Once clicked, the Reply button presents you with the status update box that is pre-filled with @username (i.e. you’re directing your status update to another person). The replies to a status update are counted on the right hand side of a status, and all replies can be viewed by clicking on this replies counter link.
