What are some common graphic file types and what should I use in my publications?

There are quite a few different image file types out there today, and each serves its own purpose. When creating a printed publication it is necessary to use either a TIFF or EPS file. (You can convert your jpegs and gifs in Adobe Photoshop.) A TIFF file is typically used for photos, and grayscale images that do not need a transparent background. EPS files are often used for vector graphics (usually logos) consisting of more graphic art often with transparent backgrounds. For more information on file types see the “Graphic File Types” section in Tech Support.
