When showing dairy goats, clipping their hair is a good idea. You can purchase an inexpensive clipper set for light use or invest in a more expensive set if you plan to get more involved. During the Summer a full body clip is common, in the Winter just a head (and neck) clip may be better depending on the climate you are showing in. I recommend clipping a week or so before the show date so the hair grows back just a bit and looks very sleek and shiny. For both dairy and meat goats hoof trimming and cleaning is important for general appearance. It can also be used to correct poor legs or gait but be careful not to make them worse. Finally, shampoo and conditioner can enhance any coat. I recommend using products made for animals, Main and Tail (for horses) is what I used when showing.
