What are some objective truths concerning environmental issues?
1. Emotion drives response and desire to act often more strongly than fact. 2. Attention to environmental issues is sometimes (probably usually) drawn through emotional appeal. Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that but unfortunately, this sometimes results in my first point. 3. It is sometimes hard to determine when to act and how to act on a problem. Again, this drives my first point again. Sooner rather than later is usually an emotional response. 4. Why do I get the feeling that cute animals get more attention and concern than ugly ones? 5. As per point 1. again, the bad part is that real environmental issues get back seat treatment to popular ones. Edit: The post right below this one is a good example of what I was talking about.
