What are the 10 pilot sites doing?
In March 2002, each community received a one-year planning grant of up to $250,000. Local judges, law enforcement officials, social service professionals, and civic, youth, and family leaders set goals and identified strategies and tactics to achieve them. In March 2003, each site received $1 million to implement their plan over the next four years. While every site is taking a different approach, each effort shares the three elements of the Reclaiming Futures model for helping teens in trouble with the law: improving treatment for drug and alcohol abuse, establishing coordinated social services known as systems of care, and involving the community in creating new opportunities for these teenagers.
