What are the advantages of a Boolean search, and how do I perform one?
A Boolean search is a fancy way of saying that you can search for a number of different words or phrases at once. For example, if you wanted to search for a book that discussed the implications of immigration law in hiring an employee, you could use a Boolean search to return MCLE products that contain the words “immigration” and “hiring.” You can also exclude certain terms by using the Boolean “not” operator. Boolean searches can be conducted from the Advanced Search screen. At the top of the search box are three “Google-esqe” text boxes where you can type the words you want in your search. Following the text boxes are three drop-down menus holding the Boolean operators you can use to combine the words in the text boxes.
