What are the advantages of a lightened flywheel?
A lightened flywheel will naturally reduce the weight of your car. It will also reduce the inertial mass required for the engine to spin. It will allow quicker shifts and easier rev matching due to the reduced mass. Quicker shifting is the result of faster RPM drops from the reduced inertia and will result in longer lasting gear synchronizers. Slippage of the clutch will be necessary when starting from a stand-still due to the reduced inertia.
