What are the aims of the DCS Leadership Programme?
The overarching aim of the DCS Leadership Programme is to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families by supporting DCSs to further develop the skills and experience they need to be truly inspirational and highly effective leaders. The programme is designed to build on the insights, strengths and current experience of serving DCSs and offers a wide range of learning opportunities for participants. The programme is being co-constructed with participants and those DCSs involved in the first two cohorts of the programme (commencing November 2009 and January 2010) in particular will have a direct responsibility for shaping the programme. The programme has been built on the National Professional Framework for Leading and Managing Children’s Services in England, draws on recent research evidence on the needs of DCSs and reflects best practice in leadership development.
