What are the basic steps for creating CDs?
Once you ve decided on the content of the CD, the files are gathered together and organized. A prototype CD-R is made, with the content, support programs (like Adobe Acrobat), and a ReadMe file containing user information. This prototype is reviewed and tested, and changes are made until it is approved. The final approved CD-R is the Gold Master and is the source for all copies. The Gold Master is sent to the Video Group for internal CD-R duplication or to an outside duplicator for large quantity CD-R or CD-ROM production. At the same time that the content is being organized, the packaging design is being developed. Once the type of packaging is selected, designs are created and stored in files. These design files are used by the Video Group to print out packaging for small quantities, or sent to an outside printing house for large quantities. Whether producing CD-ROMs or CDRs, the print packaging is printed before the CDs are made, so that the duplicator can assemble the CD and print
