Students who live in homestay enjoy the benefits of having a family to look after them and care about them. It is much easier to practice English when you live with a Canadian family that speaks native English. You will be able to participate in family activities and will be able to make friends easily. You will have someone to explain the Canadian way. Students who live in homestay tend to be happier and learn English faster. The disadvantage of living in homestay is that you will need to follow the rules of the family – especially about quiet time, sleep times and cleaning up after yourself. It is like having another parent to watch over you.
