What are the benefits of interracial dating?
One benefit is just that it’s a great way to get wider experience with different ethnic and racial groups. Even if you later marry someone who is very much like you, you’re likely to have learned more than if you always dated only people who are very much like you. One extra benefit of actually starting a family with someone from a different ethnic group is that it may make it slightly less likely that your children will suffer from some specific genetic disorders. Recessive genes for certain diseases (such as sickle cell anemia, Tay-Sachs disease, and cystic fibrosis) are prevalent in specific ethnic groups. The associated diseases have their full expression only when two people who both have single copies of the relevant gene have children, and their child is unlucky enough to receive the bad gene from both parents. “Interracial” children are therefore somewhat less likely to suffer from those diseases.
The benefits of interracial dating is knowing how far we’ve come from many different less civilised cultures that still grapple today with the acceptance of difference races from diverse cultures, what we can learn from them, and how much more we can achieve knowing we’re way past societies that stick to ancient ettiquette and customs that some societies still practice today, about rules pertaining to which caste or race can date, marry, or even be seen with! In some societies you can get killed for being seen with someone of a different race or culture. All this benefits us all as a whole knowing how much we’ve achieved in the world of humanity, that we’re closer than ever in accepting and embracing one another as one and the same, yet so diverse and different each in their own positive right. I think that alone needs no pondering as too whether it is beneficial or not.
My experiences with interracial dating are very positive but ethnicity should not determine who you are going to like and who you are going to neglect.
