A. A charge of US$980 (inclusive of official fees of US$345 and all prosecution costs) relates to the first stage, namely the Request to Record, which occurs after publication of the base European or Chinese case. An additional charge of presently US$980 (inclusive of prosecution costs and official fees of US$345) will also cover the second and final stage, namely the Request for Registration and Grant, which occurs after grant of the base European or Chinese case. Apart from the above two charges, there are no other charges except for an official annuity fee of US$250 due each year, but not until at least 3 years after grant of the Hong Kong Patent.
