FUNDING AUDI IN A GLOBAL DEPRESSION On top of all their concerns is the lack of funding for the work of the AUDIC. Although the team had worked hard to launch itself, mobilize its core participants, undertake registration of Africans in the Diaspora to build a Data Base, funding its work through contributions from Africans in Diaspora is an uphill task under the present economic recession . This is due to their on-going struggle to survive in the midst of the global economic melt down which is affecting their families. As a result, most of them had lost means of livelihood and relying on public support. In the past, they had been a great source of development at their local and national areas through financial transfers. Now the sources of these transfers such as employment, savings and home refinancing had disappeared. Engaging them in development efforts therefore requires substantial funding from multi-lateral institutions such as the World Bank and bi-lateral agencies like the USAI
