There were 1,705 housing units at an average density of 177.4/km sq (459.2/mi sq). The racial makeup of the city was 83.19% White, 6.92% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.32% Asian, 0.18% Pacific Islander, 7.66% from Race (United States Census)other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.36% of the population. There were 1,558 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were Marriagemarried couples living together, 16.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.0% were non-families. 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
