While we’re not aware of any industry accepted or universally accepted definitions for these two terms, project accounting is a cost accounting method normally associated with the professional services industry. In this context, projects are often associated with client engagements. Job cost is also a cost accounting method but is more commonly associated with inventory-based companies and manufacturing processes.
