What are the differences between store-and-forward fax and real-time fax?
TOP The store-and-forward fax service means that the fax is sent to and stored at the originating ITG first, then converted to a series of messages and sent to the receiving ITG over the IP network. The receiving ITG then send the fax to the receiving fax machine over the PSTN. When the receiving ITG receives confirmation from the receiving fax machine, it sends a confirmation message back to the originating ITG, which then notifies the sender. Although store-and-forward fax is a proven technology, it has the disadvantage of delayed confirmation of delivery. For this reason, real-time fax was designed to provide an immediate delivery of the fax and an immediate confirmation of that delivery.
