What are the differences between sunless tanners applied by hand, spray booths, and airbrush?

There are many sunless tanners available from drugstores and department stores, but they all contain the same active ingredient, DHA. They differ in formulation (mousse/cream/gel), scents, color (tinted/untinted), etc. In recent years there have been a few new advances in sunless tanning. The first was the sunless tanning “spray booth.” Again DHA is the active ingredient, but the application is much different. You enter a stand up booth located at a salon, and are “misted” with a bronze-colored solution containing DHA. The spray booths evenly coat your entire body, which is an advantage. However, sometimes the sunless tan can be too dark on areas such as hands and feet, and there is only a “one-size-fits-all” tan delivered. For those who prefer privacy, would like just a light glow, or only part of their body bronzed, the “spray booth” may not be a good option. Airbrush sunless tanning is the newest in sunless tanning application, and is a personal, customized service.
