In the British system, and also, broadly speaking, the American system, the police and prosecution gather information likely to convict the suspect. The defence gathers information likely to acquit the defendant. Arguments between the two, and the examination of witnesses, are conducted in open court, and refereed by a judge. The winner is decided, in most important cases, by a jury of ordinary citizens. In the French system, also adopted in many other continental countries, all criminal cases are investigated by an examining magistrate. He or she is independent of the government and the prosecution service, but works with the police. Much of the “trial” of the evidence goes on, in secret, during the investigation (confrontations between witnesses; recreations of the crime). The final report of the investigating magistrate is supposed to contain all the evidence favourable to both defence and prosecution. The investigations are frequently long – two years in straightforward cases is no
The technology is the same but there are a few differences: • Accuracy: GPS gives information that can pinpoint a position to within 30 metres. ESA says Galileo will be accurate to within about a metre • Availability: Galileo should give better coverage over Northern Europe and in urban areas • Control: Galileo is a civil system whereas GPS and the Russian system, Glonass, are under military control.

Mitsubishi now offer the IT5000 and Click Lite Touch Screen systems and it important to realise the differences between them. The IT5000 originally was designed as a server for a small mini lab system which can support 8 printers, connection to a external lab etc. It soon became the standard for serious event photographers due to the excellent software and the fact that anyone could operate it with ten minutes tuition. Software Versions The IT5000 and Click Lite both run the same software (as at March 09) there is no difference between software on either models. Both will support wireless which is in fact pre-configured on the “pro versions” of these systems (other hardware is also needed). Hardware Specifications In order to keep the cost of the Click Lite system down, the hardware specification has been reduced to a celeron processor with 256mb of Ram. This is still sufficient to run versions 1.00 – 1.21 of the click software but not a high enough spec to run the later 2.00 and above
