WHAT ARE THE FIRST STEPS TO SECURING A FIELD PLACEMENT?
Two separate meetings are required for students prior to beginning their field practicum: • Introduction to Field Programs is required for students beginning their field practicum the following semester and is offered approximately three weeks before the field application is due. The purpose of the Introduction Meeting is to provide students with instructions on the application process for field education, orient students to the field practicum experience, and discuss social work practice areas and related placement opportunities. • Orientation to Field Programs is required for students beginning their field practicum the following semester and is offered the month prior to the beginning of the semester that field education begins. The purpose of the Orientation Meeting is to review field course requirements, address specific issues pertaining to the practicum experience, address the learning plan, evaluation instruments, and field assignment requirements. ***Specific dates and times f
