What are the main dispensations of scripture?
Dispensationalists sometimes disagree on the specific details of these divisions and there are only informal naming conventions for the various ages, but overall there is a consensus concerning the fact of the differing periods of human history. The first is the Age of the Gentiles. This era contains four sub-groupings within it: the age of innocence, from Creation to Adam’s fall; the ante-diluvian age, from Adam to Noah’s flood; the post-diluvian age, from Noah’s flood to Abraham’s conversion; and the age of the patriarchs, from Abraham to the Exodus. During this overall period, the focus of God’s attention and administration was the Gentiles. In the Bible, this generally covers Genesis, Exodus 1-2, and the book of Job. The second is the Age of the Jews. This era contains two sub-groupings: the age of the Mosaic Law, from the Exodus to Christ; and the Tribulation, also known as Daniel’s 70th week.
