What are the Mosquitoes and Black Flies like?
Lucky for us we don’t get black flies at Lake Edge. You will never seem them on the waterfront although you might see them on the walking trails in the forest for about one day in May. We do have mosquitoes every spring and summer but they are not out during the day as the breeze off the lake keeps them away. At dusk, the mosquitoes will come out for about one hour to feast. You can either stay inside for awhile or apply insect repellent and wear long sleeved shirts and pants (always recommended) to the bonfire. If we have a dry, hot summer, the mosquitoes can disappear by August. Pam’s originally from Sault Ste. Marie where the pesky bugs are a nuisance. Here at Lake Edge they don’t even get cursed at.
