What are the nature and powers of the “article 6 Committee”?

This committee, commonly known as the “Article 6 committee”, is a regulatory committee in accordance with the Council decision of 17 July 2006 amending Decision 1999/468/EC laying down the procedures for the exercise of implementing powers conferred on the Commission (2006/512/EC), the so called “Comitology procedure”. As such the Committee itself has no decision-making powers. It is always the Commission who decides on the measures that are submitted to it.
