What are the people like in Langford, Victoria?
Langford, what is now part of the “West Shore” of Victoria communities is probably the fastest growing part of Victoria. Years ago Langford was the blue collar, poor brother municipality looked down upon by those urbanites in Saanich and Victoria proper. Not any longer. Construction is booming even with the economic downturn, there’s lots of shopping. West Shore grocery stores include Superstore, Thrifty Foods, Fairway and the Market on Millstream all located in Langford. (Actually Thrifty Foods is in Colwood, right next door). Good recreation at Juan De Fuca rec centre. (View Royal) Golf at Bear Mountain, Olympic View, Highland Pacific, Metchosin, Juan De Fuca. Nice restaurants include Smokin’ bones Cookshack (ribs) Columbos (Greek) Garlic Rose, Milestones, pubs, plus your usual array of pizza joints and fast food outlets. Commute to UVic by bus is probably between 30 and 45 minutes depending on time of day and traffic.
